Complete multi-station production workflow (TC-13 to TC-15)

Summary

  • Added product-unit completion after its final configured production step
  • Added automatic production-job completion when all required units are completed
  • Added multi-station transition guidance to the worker kiosk
  • Added completed-product guidance for moving finished units to Finished Goods
  • Added production progress messages for partially completed job quantities
  • Added a specific completed-job barcode response
  • Preserved FIFO processing when one barcode represents the complete production job
  • Clarified the difference between moving the same unfinished unit and starting the next product unit

Revised Test Cases

TC-13 — Pass an unfinished unit to its next station

When the current step is completed and the next step for the same product unit belongs to another station:

  • The current step is recorded as completed
  • The worker kiosk displays Pass Unit <number> to Next Station
  • The target station is displayed
  • Instructions for the next station are not displayed at the current station
  • Scanning the same production-job barcode at the target station displays the next step for the same product unit

TC-14 — Complete one product unit

When a product unit’s final configured step is completed:

  • The product unit status becomes Completed
  • The completed-unit count increases
  • The kiosk displays Product Complete
  • The operator is instructed to move the completed unit to Finished Goods
  • If additional units remain, the production job remains Active
  • The next product unit starts separately at its first assigned station

A completed physical unit is not passed backward to another production station. The next unit is a separate unit selected through FIFO processing.

TC-15 — Complete the production job

When the final step of the final required product unit is completed:

  • The final product unit becomes Completed
  • All required product units have status Completed
  • The production job status becomes Completed
  • The kiosk displays both Product Complete and Production Complete
  • No next-station instruction is displayed
  • Later scans of the job barcode return This production job is complete.

Verification

Automated test suite:

python -m pytest -v

Result:

15 passed

The complete regression suite covers TC-01 through TC-15.

Manual verification used Day 5 Multi-Station Test with:

  • Production quantity: 2
  • Step 1 at Station 4 using Part C
  • Step 2 at Station 5 using Part D
  • One shared production-job barcode

Verified behavior:

  • Unit 1 moved from Station 4 to Station 5
  • Unit 1 became Completed after its final step
  • The job remained Active while Unit 2 was pending
  • Unit 2 completed the same station sequence
  • Both product units became Completed
  • The production job became Completed
  • A later barcode scan displayed the completed-job error
  • Station inventory was deducted for each completed step

The kiosk wording was corrected so a finished unit is directed to Finished Goods while the next unit starts separately at its assigned first station.
